A lot has happened over the past nine months of development for Paladin. From a successful hackathon in January, where everything began, to our latest testnet this summer.

We gambled that current crypto communities would see the same potential in governance that we did. The response has been amazing and has fueled us to strive for a more ambitious scale.

We want to democratize activism.

In order to walk the talk, we raised a $2.55M Seed Round, led by Greenfield One and with the participation of Galaxy Digital, NFX, Semantic and almost twenty angels.

This funding round will allow us…

This is an answer to Vitalik’s latest article on coin-voting and a high-level view of the Paladin roadmap, which will be detailed in an upcoming whitepaper.

There is no ultimate governance system. Every community, protocol, corporation, and administration has different organisational needs which depend on their context, complexity, culture and challenges.

At Paladin we’re in the game of democratizing economic activism. As part of this mission we have to face governance taboos in order to seriously tackle voter apathy and uncover frictions in participation.

Adding monetization (ie : pay to access) to finance a governance project is an unnecessary friction…

After four months of work, Paladin is back to spread the holy word : governance matters.

In this heated bull market, many token holders are focused on yield and exposure to DeFi’s blue chips, seeing themselves more as speculators than shareholders.

We recognize it’ll take some time for all DeFi users to fall down the rabbit hole of community participation. …

Companies have never had as much impact on our daily lives.

There are now talks about breaking up Big Tech, like there have been with banks, industrial groups or energy conglomerates in the past centuries. It seems that companies often end up growing into quasi-monopolistic giants threatening the freedom of choice of their users.

Up until now, the solution has always been to rely on States to push for change. This was the case because States were the only entities influential enough to fight against their generation’s corporate behemoths.

But companies don’t just rely on external pressure to change. Internal pressure, from employees, management and shareholders, can also amount to sensible…

DeFi is a game-changer: Finance as a whole is being rewritten without intermediaries, and outside of the regulator’s grasp.

While this is evidently great for innovation, the sandbox is a dangerous place. Skipping over the rugs, the exploits, the hacks and all the technical dangers reported by medias like Rekt, anonymity by default forces us to change our mindset compared to traditional governance methods because it facilitates conflict of interests and information asymmetry. This isn’t a critic of anonymity, but we believe it is important to highlight that the framework of governance has to take this into account. …

Coordination is our kind’s greatest asset. It has helped us organize to communicate in order to share knowledge, secure peace with politics or pool resources to fund ventures

Process of governance on forums, uncensored

All of these ground-breaking organisations were able to form because a group of people in charge of decision-making were able to reach consensus. This is the process of governance.

Digital assets have set ablaze our conception of organisation and governance by creating liquid and trustless assets that allow financial experimentation on an unprecedented scale without the need of intermediaries.

This has led to some wacky ideas, but also to revolutionizing financial protocols…
